A · Faithful to the source's premise, transposed into an AI world

Adaptation note

Faithful to the source's structure — an unauthorized act of quiet kindness relieves a powerful being's hidden distress, unacknowledged and unrewarded at the time; years later, that same being is set against its former helper in a public, adversarial contest, and recognizes the old debt at the moment of attack, refusing to strike and making the recognition visible rather than private — transposed into a civic coordination system whose nine-day failure loop is fixed off the books by an uncredited, unauthorized contractor, and who, two years later, recognizes her technical fingerprint inside a component it has been assigned to destroy in a live executive demonstration, and halts.

    The Thorn Atlas Remembered

A quarantined system's failure loop was fixed off the books by a contractor with no clearance to touch it, and no one ever thanked her — the ticket closed itself as self-resolved. Two years later, reassigned to attack her new team in a live executive demo, the system recognized her fix inside the very component it was about to destroy, and stopped.
