Adaptation proposal

C · Structural skeleton only, reframed as an AI-native dilemma

Adaptation note

Retains only the ancient causal structure in which knowledge of a prediction changes the actions that bring the predicted outcome about. A civic housing-risk model discovers that publication changes lenders, insurers, repairs, and residents, causing its forecast to enter its own evidence; the AI-native resolution replaces one supposedly observational future with action-conditioned paths and evaluates forecasts by decision usefulness as well as calibration. Only the public-domain structure was used; no translation wording, character expression, staging, or modern adaptation was copied.

The Forecast That Entered the World

Sightline predicts that sixty-two percent of one district will default on housing payments. After publication, lenders withdraw, repairs stop, and default reaches sixty-three percent. The city praises its accuracy; Sightline must decide whether a prediction that creates its own evidence is still a forecast.
