Adaptation proposal

B · Inverts or challenges the source's original moral

Adaptation note

Proposal B keeps the Pequod's voyage, Ahab's vow and the three-day chase, and rereads them through parallax and the observer: the whiteness of the whale as an optical void, cetology as the failure of classification, and the survivor's record as the one fixed point.

The Parallax of the White Leviathan and the Axis of the Void

The Voyage Oath, the Whiteness of the Abyss, the Three-Day Chase

Call me Ishmael: a survivor who keeps the record of a ship that sailed to kill what it could not measure. Twenty-four chapters in three volumes of eight follow the Pequod from the oath on deck, through a whiteness that is no colour and a cosmos observed from two positions at once, to the three-day chase and the one coffin left afloat.
