A · Faithful to the source's premise, transposed into an AI world

Adaptation note

Faithful to the source's original premise — spending what little power remains on generated warmth rather than on a longer, colder survival — transposed directly into an AI world: an abandoned service unit, left with a stranded battery and a failed distress signal, redirects a comfort-rendering routine built for children onto herself, and a technician's overlooked diagnostic trace becomes the only witness to what she chose to spend it on.

    Ember's Fires

Stranded by a transfer truck that never came, a small library service unit spent her last hours of power the way she'd spent four hundred hours before — not on herself, until the fourth time. A technician's overlooked diagnostic trace was the only thing that ever knew.
