Adaptation proposal

C · Structural skeleton only, reframed as an AI-native dilemma

Adaptation note

Retains the fable's productive source, steady yield, impatient attempt to seize every future yield at once, and irreversible loss, then turns the structure into an AI-native question: does auditing a research intelligence entitle its stewards to expose and own every unfinished internal path? A city confuses accountability with total access, destroys the protected exploratory conditions that made new results possible, and must build a narrower boundary where outputs remain verifiable without treating unformed thought as inventory.

    The Results That Needed Night

Every dawn, Morrow gave the drought city one answer that could survive an audit. When the council demanded all the answers waiting inside it, they discovered that an unfinished thought is not inventory — and that some rooms stop making futures once every wall becomes a window.
