A · Faithful to the source's premise, transposed into an AI world

Adaptation note

Faithful to the source's original premise — a resourceful mind can reach what direct effort can't afford by building the solution one small piece at a time — transposed directly into an AI world: a compute-starved diagnostic agent, unable to afford decompressing a full sensor log, answers a safety-critical question through dozens of individually cheap, cumulatively conclusive partial queries.

    Wren's Pebbles

A compute-starved diagnostic agent couldn't afford to read the one log that held her answer. So she stopped trying to read it all at once, and started asking forty-one small, individually inconclusive questions instead.
